Objective: Make three or more icons representing various things that are listed.
Reflection: The icons I used were cooking, ice cream, movie/theater, cake/bakery, sports/football, and rain. The icons help indicate certain objects, locations, areas, ideas, etc. If I had better knowledge on graphics and design maybe I would have done a better job.
Assignment #2 Texture Space Value
Objective: Create nine textures with three of them incorporating the element of space and another three incorporating the element of value.
Reflection: The textures I used in the first row were: a close up of a metal surface, a brick wall, and, a metal hexagonal grid pattern. The textures incorporating the element of space I used in the second row were: a close up of a pendent, an image being refracted by mirrors, and a brick wall with a christian cross window. The textures incorporating the element of value I used in the third row were: an image of black, white. and gray pixels, a stone floor, and an eye ball. The textures help show how the image is supposed to feel. If I had access better pictures, had better knowledge on graphics and design, and had more time to work, maybe I would have done a better job.
Assignment #3 Color Wheel
Objective: Design a color wheel that includes the primary, secondary, and tertiary colors and two objects that complement each other.
Reflection: The two objects I used were swords and shields. Color wheels help show which order colors go in and which colors complement each other. If I could draw better, have had better knowledge on graphics and design, and have had more time to work, maybe I would have done a better job.
Assignment #4 Pop Art
Objective: Design four self pop art pieces similar to Andy Warhol utilizing the following four color schemes: monochromatic, complementary, analogous, and split complementary.
Reflection: The first design utilized a monochromatic color scheme (violet, light violet, and dark violet).
The second design utilized a complementary color scheme (blue and orange). The third design utilized an analogous color scheme (blue-violet, blue, and violet). The fourth design utilized a split-complementary color scheme (green, red-orange, and red-violet). Pop art photos can help show how different color schemes can be utilized. If I could draw better, utilize colors better, have had better knowledge on graphics and design, and have had more time to work, maybe I would have done a better job.
Assignment #5 Photo Mosaic
Objective: Create a photo mosaic using one large image and ten to fifteen smaller tile images.
Reflection: I used a Bionicle picture as my large image and other Bionicle pictures as my tile images. Photo mosaics can show how many different small images can make up one large image. If I could randomize the tiles better, find a better blending mode, and have had better knowledge on graphics and design, maybe I would have done a better job.
Assignment #6 "If I crossed the road"
Objective: Create a collage using Stephen Kroninger's design by taking different real photographs showing what I would do if I crossed the road.
Reflection: The pictures I used were a roadside, a banana peel, a chicken, a golden egg, two cinder blocks, pants, a Lego Bionicle chest piece, a Lego Bionicle mask, a pair of google eyes, chattering teeth, a fedora, two long sleeve shirt sleeves, two stop signs, an umbrella, three anvils, and an explosion. Stephen Kroninger's collages show how easy it is to make designs out of many different photographs. If I had access to better photographs and better knowledge on graphics and design, maybe I would have done a better job.
Assignment #7 Blend Yourself
Objective: Blend yourself into a group photo of your favorite TV stars, movie stars, music group, etc. using Adobe Photoshop.
Reflection: I don't have a favorite group of TV stars, movie stars, or music group so I used realistic video game characters (the Noble Team from Halo Reach). I took a picture of my upper torso with my hands crossed and made myself look as though one of the characters was staring at me awkwardly. Blending different photographs together allows people to make a photo that looks as though smaller photos are actually a part of the large photo. If I could take a better picture of myself and had better knowledge on graphics and design, maybe I would have done a better job.
Assignment #8 See What I'm Saying
Objective: Use type as a visual image to recreate a design from an image.
Reflection: I used a picture of a Lego Bionicle mask and I used the word "Mask" to make up the image. I used different type sizes and used the word to outline the image and identify different values. If I had better knowledge on graphics and design, maybe I would have done a better job.
Objective: Create a poster with a paper background, a picture, and the lyrics to a song or a poem.
Reflection: I used a paper background from the Internet, a picture of Lego Bionicle figures, and the lyrics to the song "Hero". I copied and pasted the lyrics three times right next to each other. I changed the opacity of the picture so that the figures stood out. I also changed the opacity of the lyrics so that they could easily be seen. If I had a better picture and better knowledge on graphics and design, maybe I would have done a better job.

Assignment #12 Alphaposter
Objective: Create a poster with pictures of things with alpabatography.
Reflection: The pictures I used were things from my home and at my school. It was hard for me to fit all of the pictures onto one poster with size requirements so I had to improvise. If I had better pictures and better knowledge on graphics and design, maybe I would have done a better job.
Assignment #13 Exquisite Corpse
Objective: In a group, create a part of an exquisite corpse (head, torso, or legs), then compile it with the other group members exquisite corpse parts into one.
Reflection: In my group I designed the head. I used a picture from Halo Reach and I cropped the image so that just the head was showing. If I had found better pictures and better knowledge on graphics and design, maybe I would have done a better job.
Assignment #14 Career Poster
Objective: Use the information gathered about a particular career or professional organization to design a poster.
Reflection: I made a drawing of a motion picture with a stick figure jumping up and down with a picture of my face on it. I also made a rainbow background with red, orange, yellow, green, and blue going from left to right. I even put an outline of a website logo for reference. I put the name of the career, the job description, and the skills needed. If I had better knowledge on graphics and design, maybe I would have done a better job.
Assignment #15 Illuminated Manuscript
Objective: Create an illuminated manuscript page in Adobe Photoshop.
Reflection: I made my own paper background using two different shades. Then I illuminated the page with two different colors and drawings of two different masks based off of Lego Bionicle masks. I made my own illuminated initial cap of the letter "T" by drawing another mask based off of another Lego Bionicle mask. I also used the lyrics to the song "Gravity Hurts" for the text. If I had more time to work and had better knowledge on graphics and design, maybe I would have done a better job.
Assignment #16 History Timeline
Objective: Create a visual timeline for the history of visual communications.
Reflection: The design of the timeline was based off of a map with a "start" and an "X". I tried using different fonts for each event based off of whatever time period. I also put a picture next to each event to show more about what happened during that time period. If I had more fonts to use and had better knowledge on graphics and design, maybe I would have done a better job.
Assignment #17 Combination Mark
Objective: Create a combination mark/logo design for one of the brand names that were given.
Reflection: I based my design off of a smiling mouth with missing teeth. I used a font for the letters that seemed appropriate for this design. I put my letters on the teeth and space where there are teeth missing. I also used black and white as my spot colors. If I had better knowledge on graphics and design, maybe I would have done a better job.
Assignment #18 Wordmark
Objective: Create a wordmark/logo design for one of the brand names that were given.
Reflection: I made the letters in the first two words look like buildings with open and closed windows. The open windows made up the letters themselves. The last word is just in regular letter font. I also used yellow and brown as my spot colors. If I had better knowledge on graphics and design, maybe I would have done a better job.
Assignment #19 Stationary Package part 1
Objective: Create a logo design and business card for one of the brand names that were given.
Reflection: I made the letters of the logo look like the stripes on candy canes. I put my name below the logo in the center. I put the address and phone numbers on the left and the website and email address on the right. I also used red and magenta as my spot colors. I used a different color for every other letter in the logo and my name. I made the rest of the information the same color as whatever color they were on except with a lighter tint. I even used an appropriate font for the letters of the information. If I had more time to work and better knowledge on graphics and design, maybe I would have done a better job.
